The Linge Memorial museumHistory
Le Linge was one of the key battlefields in the Hautes-Vosges during the First World War.
Nearly 20,000 French and German soldiers were killed, wounded or missing. The well-preserved German defence system can still be seen today on the easily accessible battlefield.
There are 3 routes through the trenches, each with different levels of difficulty. The tour is marked out by explanatory panels in 3 languages.
The museum presents a collection of objects found on the battlefield and offers an immersion into the life of a soldier at that time and in that place.
A twenty-minute video provides the historical background to the Battle of the Linge in 1915.
You can take advantage of the opportunity to enhance your visit with a walk in the mountains and, why not, a stopover at a farm inn.
In summer, guided tours and evening visits are available.
