The Krutenau
Situated to the south of the main island, this district once crisscrossed by canals was traditionally the boatmen’s and fishermen’s quarter, as recalled by its street names including rue St-Nicolas-aux-Ondes or rue de la Tour des Pêcheurs.
Among other things, it is home to the municipal baths, the Higher School of the Decorative Arts with its attractive fresco-decorated façade, the Zoological Museum and the Zurichois fountain to name but a few.
It is today popular for its contemporary bars and restaurants, art galleries and fashionable shops, which combine to make this warm and friendly area with a village atmosphere one of Strasbourg’s liveliest and most pleasant districts.Type of place Monument, remarkable house
