Departing from Strasbourg, the route follows EuroVelo 15 - the Rhine cycle route - and makes an incursion into the Robertsau/Wantzenau Rhine forest, classified as a national nature reserve. The splendid Parc du Pourtalès and its castle, located in the immediate vicinity, are well worth a stop. The tour continues along the high-water dyke that runs parallel to the Rhine. From La Wantzenau onwards, the cyclist passes through a succession of villages on the Rhine: Gambsheim, with its locks and fish pass; Offendorf, with its listed Rhine forest and boating heritage; Drusenheim, with its Altwasser gardens and Rhine ferry. The route then follows the Moder Valley Véloroute to Haguenau, city of Barbarossa, dynamic and pleasant gateway to Northern Alsace, with its exceptional forest. A quiet road leads to Brumath, the former regional capital in Roman times. Its leisure center, with its lake, is an ideal place to take a refreshing break. Finally, return to Strasbourg on the EuroVelo5 - Via Romea cycle route along the Marne-Rhine canal and its towpath.
