Our commitments to visitors, local residents and partners

We at the Eurometropolitan Office of Tourism, Leisure and Conventions of Strasbourg (OTLC) are dedicated to the values of sustainability and quality in the initiatives and services we offer, because we strive to foster tourism with a positive impact and achieve a good balance between the needs of visitors, local residents and tourism professionals. And so, our whole team is working hard to provide visitors with a high-quality hospitality experience, and, in collaboration with the Eurometropolis of Strasbourg, we are striving to make the destination more sustainable, inclusive and diversified. Quality of service

To develop and consolidate our approach to quality, our team at the OTLC endeavours on a daily basis to meet the requirements of the “Qualité Tourisme” (Quality Tourism) label.

This teamwork paid off for the first time on 14 October 2015, with the awarding of the certification, renewed on 15 March 2019 and then again on 2 May 2024.

This certification, issued by the French government, aims to improve the quality of the hospitality and services offered by tourist offices and by businesses providing accommodation, food and drink, tourist attractions, leisure and outdoor activities, and more. The logo displayed is a sign of recognition that helps customers confidently choose businesses offering high quality products and services.

The OTLC is currently continuing its efforts to meet the new requirements of the “Destination d’Excellence” (Destination of Excellence) label, which is progressively replacing the “Qualité Tourisme” label.

Indeed, the tourist office is located near many bike paths; it provides cycling tourists with practical information (advice and routes); it keeps a repair kit that can be used by cyclists; and there is also bike parking nearby.

Accessibility

Thanks to its equipment and services, the OTLC can welcome everyone with high quality, adapted services. In 2024, these efforts earned it the government-issued label Tourisme & Handicap” (Tourism & Disability), in recognition of its facilities designed to assist people with hearing, motor, mental and visual disabilities.

Sustainable tourism

Since 2023, the Eurometropolis of Strasbourg has been part of the Global Destination Sustainability Index (GDS-Index). This is an international index with voluntary participation that analyses the sustainability performance of destinations. Next, the destinations are ranked according to more than 70 very strict criteria, including environmental and social aspects, as well as destination management and supplier performance. These objectives are all aligned with the 17 United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that enable destinations to be evaluated and to put in place a continuous improvement strategy.

In 2025, its third year of participation, Strasbourg made progress on this journey, getting a score of 72% and ranking in 37th place out of the 81 international destinations evaluated, integrating therefore for the first time the prestigious Top 40. This performance reflects the local authority’s and its partners’ steadfast dedication to working towards sustainable, committed, responsible tourism.
