Fête Dieu - Corpus Christi06/02/2024
Every year, 60 days after Easter, Geispolsheim is decked out with festive flair. During the Feast of Corpus Christi, a grand procession makes its way through the village. The streets are covered in greenery and flowers, the houses are decorated and adorned with blossoms, flags are flown from windows and the church is beautified... the entire community plays a part in welcoming the procession. The residents proudly don their traditional Alsatian costumes. It’s also an opportunity to discover everything that makes these costumes special, such as the red head covering, which is a special feature of Geispolsheim.
The Corpus Christi Feast in Geispolsheim is one of the last great traditional religious processions in Alsace. An annual highlight for the village and a real celebration in mid-spring, it proves that traditions and folklore still thrive in Alsace.
9:30-10:30 am: mass, followed by the procession through the village until about noon.
Cars are not allowed in the village (parking available at Salle Malraux or at the sports complex).
