Fort FrèreHistory Science and technology
The fort Grossherzog von Baden, renamed Maréchal Pétain in 1918 and Frère in 1945, was built between 1872 and 1875. It was part of the fortified belt erected around Strasbourg to keep the city out of the reach of the artillery. The tour takes you round the chapel, the internal yards, the blockhouse, the powder magazine, the ditches systems, the elevators, the barracks, the sickroom and the kitchen.
